Our History

Goodale's Furniture   has been a trusted name in home furnishings for 87 years, proudly serving the Hudson Falls region through three generations of family ownership.

It all began in 1938 when Wesley Goodale opened the first store on the Corner of Staple & Second Street in Glens Falls. Armed with $11 of borrowed money and a passion furniture, he launched what was then called Goodale’s Bargain Store. Over the years, the business grew, relocating to Beech Street and then South Street, then expanding to it's current location in Hudson Falls on Feeder Street opening on April 1st, 1974 under the leadership of Wesley’s son, Hollis Goodale.

Known for his resourcefulness, Wesley traveled around Saratoga, acquiring furniture from hotels and bringing it back to sell in the store. Customers fondly remember his charismatic personality and compassionate business practices, such as offering layaway and payment plans to help families furnish their homes.

In 1994, Wesley G. Goodale III, grandson of the founder, officially took the helm, rebranding the store simply as Goodale’s. Today, he and his partner, Dianna Velazquez, continue the family legacy, offering a blend of new and pre-owned furniture, antiques, and modern bedding options. They’ve worked tirelessly to honor the store’s heritage while adapting to meet the needs of their community.

Over the decades, Goodale’s Furniture has become more than a business—it’s a part of the region’s history. The legacy of quality products, exceptional customer service, and family dedication remains at the heart of Goodale’s.

As we celebrate 87 years of serving our community and counting, we look forward to many more, continuing the tradition of helping families furnish their homes with care and style.
